Hello Emilia is a lesbian lifestyle blog from Finland, documenting the life of 30+ year-old Emilia, AKA me. I've always loved writing, and in the past few years I've started to feel an especially strong need to have my own place online where I could share my thoughts, opinions and obsessions, of which I have always had many (typical Gemini!).
Over the years, I've followed many lovely lesbian lifestyle blogs and vlogs based in the UK and the USA, and have slowly come to the conclusion that what's currently out there is simply not enough. What is still almost completely missing is representation of more diverse geographical areas and the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ people in so many places outside the English-speaking countries. With my blog, I want to be one such voice as well as amplify (international) LGBTQ+ voices in general.
Also, I'm someone who's been silenced throughout my life, one way or another, and somehow made to feel as if I'm not good enough the way I am. As a result, I'm in desperate need of finding my own voice and the strength to speak out and be listened to when I have something to say. With the help of this blog, I hope to build up my self-esteem and self-worth at least to some extent. At the same time, I also simply want to blog about my everyday life and the things that make me happy, and, in doing so, hopefully make some new like-minded friends along the way.
What can you expect from Hello Emilia? Well, at least LGBTQ+ storytelling, love and life with my Hungarian wife Julcsi and our experiences being a rainbow family, the many plot twists of a multicultural marriage, obsessing over Madonna, Kylie Minogue and pop culture in general, travel, cats, (diverse) books, mail, food (NOT cooking, though!), TV and films, but also social anxiety, work (I'm an English teacher at a secondary school), and trying to discover what I really want out of my life and going for my dreams.
I'm going to be writing here in English, but if you prefer reading in Finnish, please head on over to Emilia ja sateenkaari instead. My every-day life is a mixture of three languages, so blogging in at least two of them is only natural. (My mother tongue is Finnish, my wife's mother tongue is Hungarian, and we speak English together at home.)
